KUALA LUMPUR: Former Treasury secretary-general Irwan Serigar Abdullah no longer holds the rank of honorary major-general in the Territorial Army Regiment (Askar Wataniah).
In a statement, the defence ministry said the revocation was made during the 564th Armed Forces Council meeting on May 31.
It said individuals could request for the honorary commission to be cancelled for personal reasons.
“It can also be revoked when the individual no longer holds any position which allows him to carry the title,” it added.
The honorary commission was given to Irwan when he was appointed as Treasury secretary-general on Oct 30, 2015. -FMT
