Umno may be out of power. Barisan Nasional may be out of power. But the Malays must never be out of power. And the Malays must retain political power even if the entire Umno has to join PPBM to make this all-Malay party the kingpin of the Malaysian political scene. This is what Gunasegaram and those other Chinese and Indians do not understand — takkan Melayu hilang di dunia.
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
P Gunasegaram’s opinion piece published by Malaysiakini, ‘Understanding Mahathir’s motives — UMNO 2.0’, proves what I have been saying for many years — which is Chinese and Indians are not as politically-savvy as Malays.
READ HERE: Understanding Mahathir’s Motives–UMNO 2.0
In his opening paragraph, Gunasegaram said, “Harapan leaders who wanted reform and a new Malaysia free of corruption, patronage and blood-sucking politicians who steal unashamedly from the people must be regretting that they ever let Bersatu and its chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad into the coalition.”
His opening paragraph alone shows that Gunasegaram is either stupid or he thinks we are. Was it not DAP’s Superman Hew who said Lim Kit Siang is merely using Mahathir? Use the Malays to fight the Malays, said Superman Hew.
DAP was using Mahathir to kill Umno and Barisan Nasional but now they are discovering that Mahathir was using them instead
Hence what is this ‘Harapan leaders must be regretting that they ever let Bersatu and its chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad into the coalition’ nonsense? It was DAP’s plan to use Mahathir to kill Umno. And that would never have happened unless Kit Siang allowed Mahathir to take control of Pakatan Harapan.
Anyway, it was Kit Siang who proposed that Mahathir form his new all-Malay party, PPBM or Bersatu, so that they can fish for the Malay votes. ‘Multiracial’ parties such as PKR cannot do that. All they needed was about 30% of the Malay votes to oust Umno and Barisan Nasional. They do not need 95% like the Chinese votes for DAP. And they managed to do that in GE14 in May 2018.
Hence to be able to win over the Malays, PPBM not only needed to be an all-Malay party but it also needed to be seen to be a newer version of Umno Baru. That means PPBM is Umno 3.0, not Umno 2.0, as Gunasegaram suggests. Maybe Gunasegaram forgot about the Team A-Team B tussle in 1987 and the birth of Umno Baru (Umno 2.0) after the RoS deregistered Umno. It appears India pun mudah lupa (or maybe they think we sudah lupa).
Kit Siang told Mahathir the only way Pakatan can fish for Umno votes would be to form an Umno 3.0 or PPBM
Gunasegaram’s 1,600-word article can actually be summed up in a mere 24 words. And that is: since Mahathir could not take control of Umno, he did a reverse takeover of Umno just like is so common in the corporate world.
Yes, I have summarised Gunasegaram’s 1,600-word thesis to just 24 words. Mahathir is doing a reverse takeover of Umno. This is ever so common in the corporate world. In fact, Mahathir did the same thing when he (and Tun Daim Zainuddin) arranged for Hicom to buy over Yahaya Ahmad’s DRB and Yahaya ended up owning DRB-Hicom (instead of Hicom ending up owning Yahaya’s DRB).
And the beautiful thing about the DRB-Hicom reverse takeover is that DRB was saddled with debts but after the takeover DRB became debt-free and in the process controlled DRB-Hicom and Proton.
In Mahathir’s and Daim’s classic reverse takeover, Hicom bought DRB and DRB ended up debt-free and the owner of Proton
The so-called exodus of Umno people into PPBM is going to end up with ‘Umno’ controlling Pakatan Harapan. So, the government is going to go back to Malay hands. The method the Malays apply to grab back political power is not important. What is important is the Malays are back in power.
Today, the Chinese and Indians run the government. The Chinese decide what happens to Tabung Haji and the Indians announce a jihad to fight against the injustice suffered by the Hindus and Hindu temples (where Hindus are forced against their will to convert to Islam, so they claim).
The ‘Malay’ police are accused of purposely allowing people to attack Hindu temples (according to the Pakatan ministers) while Malay firefighters are murdered just because they happen to be Malay.
Yes, since May 2018, the ‘new’ Malaysia is about putting the Malays in their place after 61 years of ‘Malay’ rule and ‘state-sponsored discrimination’ against the non-Malays. And in just seven months the Pakatan Harapan government has lepas geram against the Malays for their 61 years of ‘suffering’.
