Jais investigating slaughterhouse after video clip raises questions of hygiene, unIslamic practices

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) is investigating allegations of chickens being slaughtered and processed not in accordance with Islamic law and in unhygienic conditions, as shown in a video clip being shared on social media.

The slaughterhouse is believed to be in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

JAIS director Datuk Haris Kasim when contacted by Bernama said, with the cooperation of the Subang Jaya Municipal Council the department had identified the slaughterhouse and investigations were underway.

Haris, however, did not state the actual location of the premises.

"We will issue a report upon completion of the investigation," he said.

 In the three-minute 40-second video shared on social media, an employee is seen slaughtering the birds not in accordance with the Islamic law and leaving them to die after being dumped into a large container filled with water.

Several other workers are also seen processing the slaughtered chickens on the bloodied cement floor. – Bernama
