Fugitive financier Jho Low is to be charged in absentia at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today, according to a report.
The Star Online also reported today that aside from Low, four others are expected to be charged without their presence in court as well.
The English daily said Low would most likely be facing charges related to the 1MDB scandal.
Low, who is believed to be hiding in China, was first charged in absentia in August with eight counts of money laundering under the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2001 over allegedly misappropriated funds from 1MDB.
The US Department of Justice had also brought chargesagainst Low over the allegedly stolen funds and for purportedly paying bribes to various Malaysian and Abu Dhabi officials.
Low is currently wanted in several countries, including Malaysia and Singapore, over 1MDB investigations. -Mkini
