MCA AGM | MCA has put up a resolution to push for the dissolution of BN and form a new coalition.
"(MCA) has authorised its central committee to dissolve BN and form another coalition," read the resolution sighted by Malaysiakini.
When met later at the party's annual general meeting, Kluang MCA chief Gan Ping Sieu confirmed that the resolution would be debated.
Gan added, however, that MCA should debate leaving BN instead.
"The resolution has two stages. Firstly, the party will authorise the central committee (to look into the matter) and secondly, it will push for the dissolution of BN.
"Dissolving BN sounds good, but it's not up to you (MCA) to decide," he said, adding that quitting the coalition is something the party can decide outright.
Gan (photo) also asked whether MCA is buying time, as it still appears to be indecisive even six months after the May 9 general election.
"Even if the resolution were to get through, it will be inconclusive, especially if Umno and MIC do not make the same decision," he said.
MCA has yet to make a conclusive stand on the matter as BN is still in power in two states, Pahang and Perlis.
"So everything will be status quo; as such, there is no need to put forward the resolution, given the choice of words within," he said.
In his policy speech earlier, new MCA president Wee Ka Siong made a vague reference to an important decision which would be made today.
