Auditor-general Madinah Mohamad has stood by her statement that the 1MDB audit report had been tampered with, as she had said last month.
Saying this, Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairperson Ronald Kiandee added that the committee had obtained a statement with much information from Madinah and her team on the matter.
“As Madinah has stated in her press statement, she told us (PAC) that the 1MDB audit report had been amended, and she explained how the report had been tampered with.
“We will investigate further based on her statement,” Ronald told reporters at the Parliament building today.
On Nov 25, Madinah had alleged that former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak had allegedly ordered the original 1MDB audit report to be amended, in a meeting on Feb 22, 2016.
According to Madinah, parts of the audit report that were tampered with included those on 1MDB's 2014 financial statement and fugitive businessperson Low Taek Jho's attendance at a 1MDB board of directors meeting.
Ronald, who is also Beluran MP, refused to divulge further regarding today’s PAC proceedings on the matter.
He merely stated that the PAC will summon Saadatul Nafisah, the government’s former audit sector director, for questioning, tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Madinah, when met after a three-hour questioning by PAC, said she will leave it to the committee to decide whether they want to conduct further investigations into the matter.
She had also surrendered the original 1MDB audit report to the PAC, during her interview session, she added. -Mkini
