Perak exco member, MP remain free after acquittal

Perak exco member Tan Kar Hing and Tanjung Malim MP Chang Lih Kang today remained free men, along with four others, after the prosecution withdrew its appeal against their acquittal for obstructing a public officer in the Kita Lawan rally three years ago.
Lawyer Shahid Adli Kamarudin confirmed the prosecution's withdrawal of its appeal when contacted by Malaysiakini.
Shahid said the withdrawal of the prosecution's appeal was recorded by High Court judge Colin Lawrence Sequeira in Kuala Lumpur.
Besides Tan and Chang, the others are Chee Chu Sang, 41, N Tamilarason, 54, Yong Ming Chong, 49, and Gan Zhi Mou, 25.

They were acquitted by magistrate Nur A'Minahtul Mardiah last year on a charge that they prevented Kuala Lumpur City Hall worker Mohd Haryadi Mohd Nor and his team from carrying out their duties during the Kita Lawan rally on March 30, 2015.
The magistrate ruled that the defence had presented reasonable doubt in the prosecution's case. - Mkini
