PH members free to criticise, says Mat Sabu

KUALA LUMPUR: Mohamad Sabu today defended those who openly criticised Pakatan Harapan leaders, saying he had no issue with it, even as some called for a truce following a spat sparked by calls for a minister to resign.
The Amanah president, better known as Mat Sabu, said the ruling coalition has always been transparent.
“Members are free to criticise each other and are open to criticisms,” Mohamad, who is also the defence minister, said at Wisma Perwira here this morning.
He was asked to respond to calls for calm among PH leaders following a war of words over demands for P Waytha Moorthy to step down as the unity minister after the death of a fireman from injuries sustained during a temple riot in Subang Jaya last month.
Yesterday, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang told component party leaders to stop attacking other Pakatan Harapan leaders without first discussing and getting the green light from their respective parties.
PKR president Anwar Ibrahim also urged PH leaders to “calm the situation” and avoid making negative statements.
The duo said this in the wake of a spat between PPBM Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and Penang deputy chief minister II P Ramasamy.
Ramasamy of the DAP had slammed PPBM’s youth wing and Syed Saddiq following reports that a delegation from the wing had submitted a memorandum to Dr Mahathir Mohamad asking for Waytha to be dropped as a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.
But Syed Saddiq, who is the youth and sports minister, hit back, accusing Ramasamy of double standards, noting that the DAP youth had also called for the education minister to step down.
Today, however, Mohamad played down the war of words, saying he was not worried about it. -FMT
