Kedah PKR chief Johari Abdul has sarcastically described Amanah leader Khairuddin Abu Hassan as a “top spy”.
This is after Khairuddin, a stalwart of Dr Mahathir Mohamad, claimed that there was a plot against the prime minister.
“I am awestruck by his ability to detect a movement to oust the prime minister. He is a top spy, I don’t know where he got his training from.
“This is not a mere plot to oust a village chief but the prime minister. If he can know, that means he is indeed awesome,” Johari told Malaysiakini when contacted.
Khairuddin had previously claimed of a plot against Mahathir in response to Johari’s criticism against Mahathir.
Johari had said Mahathir’s government cannot keep focussing on the alleged wrongdoing of previous government but must provide a positive direction to unite the people.
Refusing to entertain Khairuddin’s claim, Johari said the former was a “unique individual” and “full of surprises”.
“Khairuddin is someone who likes to make surprises.
“I congratulate him for igniting claims of a movement to topple the prime minister,” he said. – MKINI
Anwar: Xmas a chance to heal after bid to ‘hijack peaceful co-existence’
PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, in a Christmas Eve message, urged Malaysians to strengthen their ties through such festivities.
He said this was particularly necessary coming out of events that threatened to destabilise our way of life.
“It is during these festive times that we should strengthen the ties that bind us, especially as our country has recently witnessed attempts at hijacking our peaceful co-existence by vested interests whose goals are nothing short of destabilising our way of life,” he said in a statement today.
Anwar did not specify what the attempts were.
The country saw two nights of riots near the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple last month, which had sparked rhetoric that was sometimes racial in nature.
“Malaysia will only progress when we move beyond narrow-minded prejudice.
“As we approach the upcoming new year, let us renew our vows and pledge to not take the peace that we have for granted.
“Let us work harder in ensuring the progress together as a nation that is united even as we face the challenges of 2019,” he said. – mkini
