PKR president Anwar Ibrahim's former lawyer N Surendran has criticised the meeting between BN lawmaker Khairy Jamaluddin and two former PKR vice-presidents Rafizi Ramli and Nurul Izzah Anwar.
Khairy, he said, had previously defamed Anwar with his main belakang remark and has never apologised or taken responsibility for it.
"How strange & surprising. This (Khairy) accused Anwar of 'main belakang' and got sued for it.
"Did he retract the accusation? Nope. He continues to defend it in court, his appeal is still pending in the federal court," Surendran said in a Twitter post today.
Khairy, Nurul Izzah and Rafizi had reportedly met yesterday in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, spurring speculation that the trio was planning to launch a new youth-based political platform.
Surendran also pointed out that Khairy also organised a roadshow with lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah after Anwar's Sodomy II conviction.
"Has he ever taken responsibility for what he did or apologised for it? Nope," Surendran said.
Khairy's appeal in Anwar's defamation case against him over the main belakang remark is still pending at the Federal Court.
He was previously ordered by the court to pay RM210,000 in damages for defaming Anwar with that remark. -Mkini
