PPBM to hold AGM from Dec 28-30

PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin speaks in a press conference at the party headquarters in Petaling Jaya.
PETALING JAYA: PPBM today announced that it will be holding its second annual general meeting (AGM) at the end of the year.
The AGM, which will be held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre from Dec 28 to 30, is expected to be attended by some 2,800 delegates from across the country.
PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin, who made the announcement at the party headquarters here, said the AGM was important as it was the first after Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) victory in the May 9 general election.
He said the AGM would seek to emphasise PPBM’s commitment to important principles in the Federal Constitution, and would see debates on matters pertaining to the Malays, Bumiputeras, Malay rulers and language.
“We are fully committed and we don’t want the people to have doubts. PPBM will fight for the Malays and Bumiputeras to ensure that they are not cast aside as the nation goes through rapid development.
“We don’t want them to feel abandoned after GE14. We will continue to fight for their cause, but we must also be fair to the others.
“We will propose a new approach to deal with this matter called ‘shared prosperity’, where it will benefit not only the Malays but other races as well. This will be an important theme at the AGM,” he said.
Muhyiddin will officiate the women’s and youth wing delegates meeting on Dec 28, while PPBM chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad will officiate the main body’s delegate meeting on Dec 29.
The media will be allowed to cover the opening speeches, but the debates will be held behind closed doors. Matters raised during the debates will be conveyed in press conferences.
Only one motion will be tabled during the AGM, which is to support Mahathir’s keynote address.
Muhyiddin said invitations had been sent to PH leaders, embassy representatives and other guests to join the launch of the PPBM AGM. - Mkini
