Sedic rebranded, now called Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit

The Socioeconomic Development of the Indian Community Unit (Sedic) has been rebranded as The Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra).

Sedic director-general S Letchumanan said in a statement today that Mitra's key result areas shall comprise education, social welfare, economy and career opportunities, policy planning, identity and inclusiveness, as well as special projects.

“Mitra means companion, synergy, spirit, covenant and alliance. Mitra's vision is to transform Indian Malaysians towards a viable and inclusive community.

“Its mission is to empower the Indian community for sustainable growth in education, economy, social well-being and human excellence,” he said, adding that the new identity will focus and build upon its integrity values while improving its strategic and operational effectiveness.
