Stand up for Malaysia, KJ tells ministers over Singapore dispute

Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin wants more government ministers to speak out on the current tensions with Singapore over disputed waters.
"Singapore ministers coming out one after the other stating their claim publicly. (But) our govt’s response is 'wait for talks'.
"Come on, we need to go into talks having made a robust public case and rallied public opinion. Stand up for Malaysia!" he said on Twitter today.
He was responding to an article which quoted Singapore's Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing as saying that “risk of escalation cannot be underestimated" in the maritime dispute between the two countries.
Singapore has accused Malaysia of altering port limits for the Johor Bahru Port in a way that has encroached waters off Tuas and that there were allegedly 14 intrusions thus far.
It then extended the Tuas Port's limits in retaliation.
Tuas is an area located on the west side of Singapore.
Singapore Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen on Friday "strongly cautioned" Malaysian vessels against "encroaching" Singaporean waters.
Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah responded by urging both Malaysia and Singapore to stop sending assets into the disputed waters pending discussions on maritime boundary issues.

Singapore shot down the proposal, but said it was ready to discuss the matter.
Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said he hoped the matter could be resolved at the negotiation table.
