(FMT) – Tabung Haji chief operating officer Adi Azuan Abdul Ghani has been arrested and is expected to be brought before the Magistrate’s Court in Putrajaya for a remand order at 9am on Wednesday.
It is believed that his arrest is in connection with the probe by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission surrounding the use of Tabung Haji’s interior decorator contractor to build wardrobes at his house.
Details, however, are unclear at this point.
Adi is represented by senior lawyer Shaharudin Ali.
Police are also probing Tabung Haji over alleged misappropriation of funds.
It was reported last month that Tabung Haji had lodged two police reports against its former chairman, Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, former chief executive officers Ismee Ismail and Johan Abdullah, as well as senior management staff.
The senior staff members are Adi, chief financial officer Rozaida Omar, legal adviser Hazlina Mohd Khalid and senior general manager for corporate services and real estate Rifina Md Ariff.
The reports lodged were the first following internal investigations into past transactions, spearheaded by the new management, since July 2018.
