The Save Seafield Mariamman Temple Task Force has expressed sadness over the death of Fire and Rescue personnel Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.
Its chairperson Ramaji urged the authorities to ensure that those responsible for his death are punished.
“We urge the authorities to conduct thorough investigations and bring those responsible to the book.
“The authorities must not only go after the perpetrators but also the people who were behind the perpetrators,” he added in a statement this morning.
Ramaji also rued how the acts of violence compromised the struggle to retain the temple at its current location in Subang Jaya.
“Violence is not and will never be a solution to any problem. And those who indulge in it for whatever reason have to investigated and punished accordingly,” he added.
Adib, 24, was part of the team that had been deployed in response to vehicles that were torched by rioters near the temple on Nov 26.
On reaching the scene, the police claimed that Adib was dragged out of his vehicle and beaten up, causing him to suffer several broken ribs and multiple organ injuries.
Police had arrested four suspects who were believed to have attacked Adib. They are currently out on bail.
Following Adib's death last night, police have reclassified the case as murder. - Mkini
