PETALING JAYA: Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman and Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali have been given 24 hours to retract their statements against Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department P Waytha Moorthy or face legal action.
In a statement today, Waytha criticised the two leaders for their “various false and defamatory” statements against him which insinuated that he had insulted the Malay and Muslim community.
“These wild allegations and hate speeches by these two leaders, in my view, are to rile up the people to attend the PAS/Umno-organised anti-ICERD (International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination) rally scheduled for this Sunday.”
Waytha said he has been made a “target” ever since he answered a parliamentary question on ICERD more than one month ago, and that the “wild allegations” against him were “blatant lies” uttered by those with ulterior motives.
“I am giving these two leaders 24 hours to retract their recent statements in the media or risk facing a defamation suit. I have resorted to this as I feel this would be the best avenue for me to clear my name.”
He added that Tajuddin and Ibrahim’s statements were not appropriate in a multi-racial, multi-religious and multi-cultural nation like Malaysia. -FMT
