Wee tells Zahid: All BN parties have right to speak on its fate

Wee says the component parties in BN are entitled to come out with their own views to determine the coalition’s future.
KUALA LUMPUR: MCA president Wee Ka Siong has reminded Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that each component party has the right to address the coalition’s fate regardless of the number of elected seats it holds.
All component parties in BN are entitled to come out with their own views to determine the coalition’s future, Wee told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
“It is not about seats but the consensus of the component parties. Always treasure the spirit of the coalition.
“I am just doing my duty to deliver the decision and proposal made by my delegates,” he added, referring to the resolution adopted at the MCA annual general meeting yesterday calling for the dissolution of BN to pave the way for the formation of a more effective coalition.
In response, Zahid urged MCA to consider its position before proposing the idea to dissolve BN.
He said MCA has only one parliamentary seat which is a Malay-majority seat, now held by Wee.
Wee urged Zahid to stop talking about the number of seats or MPs as decisions were made not based on the total number of representatives or on race.
“We were talking about revamping BN as a whole.
“To revamp a political structure, all component parties can have their say.”
He said MCA would write to the BN secretary-general to deliver the proposal made by its delegates.

Wee also called on BN to hold a meeting soon to discuss the issue, taking into consideration all views from the component parties. - FMT
