10 projects in Perak worth RM1bil cancelled due to budget cuts

IPOH: Ten projects in Perak worth about RM1bil under the 11th Malaysia Plan have been cancelled due to budget cuts.
Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu (PH-Chenderiang) said among those were three mega-projects in Bagan Datuk.
These, he said, included the upgrading of Route 69 from Hutan Melintang to Bagan Datuk worth RM529mil, a flyover in Hutan Melintang (RM144mil) and the Bagan Datuk district police station (RM138mil).
"And as informed in a letter by the Finance Ministry in June last year, any projects that have not received the approval letter would be cancelled," he said when replying to Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya (BN-Rungkup) during the question and answer session at the state assembly sitting on Tuesday (July 23).

"All development projects that were planned needs to be reviewed.

"This would be based on needs and the financial implications for the government.
"A cost-benefit analysis is also being studied for all the projects," he added.
Ahmad Faizal also said that 11 projects under the plan worth RM1bil would continue.
These, he said, included Politeknik Bagan Datuk (RM220mil), Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Bagan Datuk (RM130mil) and a sports complex in Bagan Datuk (RM39mil).- Star
