2 men selling fake govt hospital MCs caught in Penang

North Seberang Perai police chief Noorzainy Mohd Noor warns workers that using fake MCs can get them sacked.
BUTTERWORTH: Police detained two men who sold fake government hospital medical certificates (MCs) for RM25 each.
North Seberang Perai police chief Noorzainy Mohd Noor said police received a complaint from the human resources manager of a private company who claimed there was a surge in those calling in sick with medical certificates allegedly issued by an unspecified government hospital.
He said investigating officers took the MCs to the hospital and found out that the doctors who issued them “did not exist”.
Noorzainy said further investigations led to the arrest of a mechanic, aged 30, in Sungai Puyu, and a jobless man, aged 34, in Penaga.
He said the mastermind was believed to be the jobless man who had gone around peddling the fake MCs.
He is said to have made a profit of RM10 to RM15 by selling each MC.
Noorzainy said the case was being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating, under which those convicted can be jailed for 10 years, fined or both.
“I’d like to advise workers, especially in the civil service, to not take the easy way out by buying fake MCs.
“This may cause you to face disciplinary action. You can be sacked as well.” - FMT
