The Yang di-Pertuan Agong threw a modest surprise party for Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today at the national palace.
A video clip uploaded by Bernama today showed palace officials rolling out two cakes while singing “Happy Birthday”.
According to a Prime Minister's Office spokesperson, one cake was made of pulut kuning, while the other was fashioned as a piano topped off with a book.
The book was A Street Cat Named Bob by British writer James Bowen, published in 2010.
Mahathir revealed last December that this was his favourite book.
According to the spokesperson, Mahathir was at the palace this afternoon on official business.
Mahathir turned 94 yesterday. He said that his birthday wish was to complete his mission – setting Malaysia on the road to recovery. - Mkini
