The man in the video here is Ustaz Wan Ji Wan Hussain. He has just been jailed for one year for Sedition. He did mention somewhere that the monarchy should be abolished.
Wan Ji is perhaps the most intellectual and logical ustaz in the country now. I have bought his books and agree with many things he says. Like his views about Firaun or Pharaoh which you can hear in this video.
This is the new Pakatan government. They jail people for just opening a discussion. There is nothing subversive in what Wan Ji says. He is just expressing his opinion.
The AG DROPPED the corruption charges against Lim Guan Eng even after the corruption trial had started. Likewise the AG could have dropped the Sedition charges against Wan Ji.
Ustaz Wan Ji is being victimised by a fasik and unjust law. I hope there will be enough Civil Society groups who will take up his case. (Dei thenga, where are you fellows?) I also hope the Malay groups like G25 will voice their protest against Wan Ji's one year jail sentence.
Even if you do not agree with Wan Ji that is not the question. The fact is a man has been jailed just for speaking a few words. Since when did words become so dangerous?
I move for a proposal that the AG withdraw their charges against Wan Ji (move for a dismissal, acquittal, mistrial or whatever is appropriate) so that Wan Ji is released immediately from jail.
Folks please support me on this. We need YOU to speak up. This is not justice. This is serious injustice. This is not even civilised.
