Alleged exco rape case - Perak cops lodge police report over MCA claim

Perak cops have lodged a police report over a statement by MCA Wanita chief Heng Seai Kie (above) alleging that police had lost the forensic report for the rape investigation against state exco Paul Yong.
Heng's statement was posted on the "1Malaysia Tolak DAP" Facebook page with the comment: "How did it go missing? Were there hidden hands that ordered for the report to be made to disappear?"
Perak police chief Razarudin Husain, however, said cops were still waiting for the forensic report from the Chemistry Department.
"The report has not gone missing," he told journalists through WhatsApp.
Razarudin, in a statement earlier, said the allegation against police would be investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998 and Section 500 of the Penal Code.
Section 233 of the CMA 1998 concerns the misuse of network facilities which carries a punishment of up to a year's imprisonment or an up to RM50,000 fine or both while Section 500 of the Penal Code concerns criminal defamation which carries a punishment of up to two years imprisonment or a fine or both.
"The irresponsible statement uploaded by the owner of the '1Malaysia Tolak DAP' Facebook page is libel which challenges the integrity of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) which is investigating the matter in a transparent and thorough manner.
"The PDRM would like to advise all quarters not to make irresponsible statements or speculations that can affect police investigations as well as the transparent, fairness and good name of the PDRM, particularly Perak PDRM," he said.
Heng, in her statement, had singled out Razarudin and called for action over what she claimed was "negligence" in the case.
When asked for clarification, Razarudin confirmed that Heng would be summoned by the police for questioning.
Yong is accused of sexually assaulting his Indonesian domestic worker. The Tronoh assemblyperson has denied the rape allegation.
“I hereby unequivocally and categorically deny the allegation. I reiterate that I have never raped or sexually assaulted her," he had said.
Yong presented himself at the Jelapang police station on July 9 to facilitate investigations and was briefly detained by cops. He was subsequently released on police bail.
Yong has continued to clock into office as the Perak exco in charge of housing, local government, public transport, non-Muslims affairs and new villages but Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu said his decision-making role has been limited pending the completion of police investigations.
The case has also attracted attention from the Indonesian embassy. - Mkini
