PKR president Anwar Ibrahim (photo, above) sees the return of Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as Umno boss as proof the former ruling party is still unstable.
However, Anwar, who was once Umno deputy president, said that decisions made by Umno did not affect the direction of Pakatan Harapan.
"I'm not a member of Umno. That was long ago. The (return of Zahid) is Umno's internal decision and will not affect the position of Harapan.
"I think Umno is still not steady. But that is an internal decision, for me, it does not show Umno as a strong party," he told a press conference at PKR headquarters today.
He said this when asked to comment on the decision of Ahmad Zahid to return to his role as party president after taking a "vacation" for more than six months since December.
Zahid (photo, left) announced his holiday on duty on Dec 18, 2018, as he was urged to resign following a string of defections from Umno.
His deputy, Mohamad Hasan (photo, right) took over as acting president and led Umno to some notable by-elections wins, namely in Cameron Highlands, Semenyih and Rantau.
However, on June 30, Zahid announced that he was ready to once again carry out his duties as president. - Mkini
