Call for action against Farhash for outburst over sex video scandal

PETALING JAYA: In another round of friendly fire, a PKR member is demanding disciplinary action against Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak for insulting party deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Former Selangor PKR deputy information chief K. Gunasekaran lodged a complaint urging the disciplinary board to act against Farhash, who had used an insulting Malay word when he yelled allegations that Azmin had gay sex to a crowd gathered following his release from police remand on Tuesday (July 23).
He said Farhash should have shown more respect towards the deputy president, as the police had already explained that Azmin could not be positively identified as one of the two men in depicted in the video.
"He should not have used such a word… This disrespected the party and the aspirations of a PKR member.

"We are urging the party to take action to show that the party is disciplined. Members – including leaders elected by the president – must respect not only the president, but also the deputy president, who was chosen by the members," he told reporters after submitting his complaint at the PKR headquarters here on Wednesday (July 24).

Gunasekaran, who was told by the disciplinary board committee that the investigations into his complaint could take up to 90 days, urged for it to be expedited as there was a video evidence of the incident.
"They can conclude the investigation in one day. But whether to suspend or fire him, that is up to the party to decide," said Gunasekaran.
He said any swift action taken would also serve as a lesson for other PKR members not to repeat the accusation.
It was reported on Wednesday (July 24) that PKR disciplinary board chief Datuk Ahmad Kassim had called for peace within PKR, following demands by several party leaders for action to be taken against Farhash.
On Tuesday (July 23), Farhash, who is also the political secretary of PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, along with former Santubong PKR youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz and another man, were released at 4pm at the Dang Wangi police district headquarters after being remanded since July 16 over the sex video scandal.
News portal Malaysiakini reported that upon his release, Farhash yelled out the insulting phrase as well as "Reformasi" and "Anwar for PM".
Farhash had also challenged Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador to arrest Azmin, who is also the Economic Affairs Minister, over the sex video scandal.
Haziq was sacked from PKR on July 3, three weeks after publicly confessing that he was one of two men in the viral sex video, claiming that Azmin was the other.
Meanwhile, Farhash said that he would accept any punishment meted out by the party, but called for fairness.
"I respect the president and the party's constitution. My moral conviction is for reformasi and if I am to be punished for being transparent, then I accept it, but I seek fair treatment for all party members who have done the same," he said when contacted.- Star
