The PKR disciplinary board will issue letters to Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari, Farhash Wafa Salvador and several others over their remarks concerning a sex video implicating party deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Apart from “reminding” them to watch their words and actions, these individuals will also be asked to explain their controversial statements.
However, a source told Malaysiakini that these are not show-cause letters.
Amirudin is also the Selangor PKR chief, while Farhash heads Perak PKR and is party president Anwar Ibrahim's political secretary.
The board said the decision to send the letters is in line with the resolution adopted during the recent PKR leaders' retreat to encourage reconciliation.
“The disciplinary board has the right to take action if the reminder does not receive a positive response from those involved,” it added in a statement this afternoon.
Following PKR's political bureau meeting last night, communications director Fahmi Fadzil said the bureau informed the disciplinary board to call in several members and leaders over their statements.
Farhash is being questioned over his remarks regarding Azmin on Tuesday following his release from police custody.
He was among several individuals detained in connection with the circulation of the sex video.
In a statement yesterday, Farhash said he was angry at Azmin.
“I was angry with Azmin and after I was freed, I verbally attacked him because if we as Malaysians need to respect the law, why has he been hiding behind the veil of privilege?” he said.
Meanwhile, it is believed that the letter to Amirudin concerns his recent remark that "those who had been through a similar ordeal and fought through a dark period of history" were behind the video.
Sources also said another individual in the disciplinary board's crosshairs is Azmin's adviser Khalid Jaafar, who had called on Anwar to retire. - Mkini
