Don't bog me down - IGP on whether 'top leader' will be called over sex video

With the focus having shifted from the sex video implicating a senior minister to the alleged mastermind behind its circulation, speculation is rife that police would summon a high-ranking political leader for questioning.
Quizzed on this at the sidelines of an event in Kuala Lumpur this morning, Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador declined to provide a definitive answer.
The police chief said he is focussing on numerous issues and does not wish to be pinned down by this particular case, which has dominated headlines for weeks.
“... As I said, service delivery - I want to improve on that.
"Don't drag me (into this) and get (me) bogged down in all this. When I say the investigation is going on, take it. It's going on. Everyone should understand it is not completed yet.
"Once it is completed, I will send it to the attorney-general," he added.
Previously, Hamid revealed that the “leader of a political party” is behind the plot to tarnish the reputation of Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali and hundreds of thousands of ringgit were spent to produce the video.
He said while the video is most likely authentic, the facial recognition process had failed to link Azmin to the recording depicting two men indulging in sexual acts.
Soon after the video was leaked, speculation was rife that it could be related to the rift within PKR, especially with regard to the prime minister's post.
It is often claimed that Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad prefers Azmin to succeed him despite an agreement that the baton would be passed to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.
Azmin, who is PKR deputy president, had said from the onset that the video was an inside job. He also claims to know the identity of the mastermind but has refused to reveal the person's name.
Yesterday, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari, who is aligned to Azmin, dropped another clue when he claimed that those behind the video had experienced a similar ordeal in the past.
In a blog post this morning, Mahathir claimed that the mastermind had sought Azmin's removal.
Police had detained several individuals over the case, including Anwar's political secretary and former Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz.
The latter had confessed to being the other person in the video. Haziq also claimed that it was Azmin who was in bed with him and that their sexual tryst was recorded without his knowledge.
Anwar, who had been accused of sodomy twice in the past two decades, has denied involvement in the sex video. - Mkini
