KUALA LUMPUR: About 20 people turned up outside the Parliament building this morning, carrying placards urging Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali to resign.
One of them carried a placard urging Azmin not to burden Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad with his alleged involvement in a series of gay sex clips.
Saying they represent the voice of youth “who feel ashamed” by the episode, they urged the police to step up investigations into the authenticity of the videos.
“If the videos are authentic, sack him immediately. The youths are embarrassed and saddened. We will protest until noon,” said the group’s spokesman Amin Syazmin.
Azmin has strongly denied an allegation by former ministerial aide Haziq Aziz that they both had sex at a hotel in Sabah in May.
Haziq, who was also Santubong PKR’s youth chief, made the claims in a Facebook video. He has since been stripped from his government job, and was yesterday expelled by his party.
PKR said Haziq was expelled due to his unproven allegations of graft against Azmin. The party said its own investigations into the sex claims are still ongoing. - FMT
