KUANTAN (Bernama): The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) is monitoring the alleged "standing zikir" ritual in a village in Jerantut near here last week.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Fuziah Salleh said the matter was also in the investigation of the Pahang Islamic Religious Department (JAIP) which was understood to have called the individuals involved.
"However, I was informed that the JAIP has not been able to meet them... no matter what we will monitor and investigate because based on the widespread video, we find it is misleading the faith.
"It is seen as an incorrect teaching and does not conform to the Islamic tenets, but we still have not been able to decide on the belief of the group," she said.
Fuziah said this to reporters when met at the site visit and launching programme of the bridge construction and water pump repair project at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bunut Rendang, Inderapura here Monday (July 15).
She said efforts were being made to track down a man known as Tok Ki @ Tok Ayah from Terengganu who was said to have brought the 'faith' to the village.

She urged those with information pertaining to the teaching or the individual to report to the authorities to curb the spread of the teaching.
On Saturday, three video footage lasting between 15 seconds to a minute showed a group of male and female congregation performing several body movements and unclear chanting. - Bernama
