SRC TRIAL | Jho Low and Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil had instructed AmBank to conceal former premier Najib Abdul Razak's name when processing his banking transactions, says a witness today.
Testifying in the 44th day of the SRC International criminal trial against Najib, former AmBank relationship manager Joanna Yu revealed under cross-examination by defence lawyer Harvinderjit Singh that she was told by both Low and Nik Faisal not to disclose the politician's name whenever funds were deposited into his account.
Nik Faisal, also the former CEO of SRC International, was the authorised person to handle Najib's bank accounts.
Yu: Yes, we were told we cannot list (down) Datuk Seri (Najib's) name.
Harvinderjit: You were told by Low that it involved confidentiality of the person and not to expose the name?
Yu: I was told that by Low.
During the hearing, the Kuala Lumpur High Court also heard from Yu that Low also told her to clear her Blackberry Messenger (BBM) chats in 2015.
According to a transcript of Yu's BBM chat read out in court by Harvinderjit, the businessperson had told her to delete the logs in the morning of March 3, 2015.
Yu confirmed the conversation but said that she did not comply with Low’s instruction.
"Yes (Low told me to clear BBM chat logs) but I never did, because I don't know how to," she during the morning session of today's hearing.
Yu also denied that she cleared her BBM chat logs after March 2015 and stated that conversations conducted through the application should have been in her BlackBerry which was confiscated by Bank Negara later that same year. - Mkini
