Motion against Bersih for breaking embargo 'superfluous' - Kit Siang

Lim Kit Siang has labelled the motion to probe Bersih for breaking parliamentary embargo on the 2017 Sabah redelineation report as “superfluous”.
The Iskandar Puteri MP claimed the documents revealed by the electoral reform group were no longer embargoed.
“The embargo ended when the report was tabled in Parliament on July 8,” he told Malaysiakini today. “So the motion is superfluous.”
The motion against Bersih is listed in the Dewan Rakyat's Order Paper for today.
A committee will determine if the Sabah redelineation report and two others were still embargoed until it was tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on July 17.
On Tuesday, Bersih decided to reveal the 2017 Sabah delineation review report ahead of its tabling the following day.
The group had expressed its “disappointment” that its earlier call to make public the report – which it deemed "malicious, flawed and obsolete” – was ignored.
Bersih had said it was willing to pay the RM1,000 fine to the Dewan Rakyat speaker's office.
If the embargo is found to have been broken, the parliamentary committee – headed by Dewan Rakyat speaker Mohamed Ariff Md Yusof – will take action under the House of Parliament (Privileges and Powers) Act 1952.
Other than the speaker, the committee comprises Md Farid Md Rafik (Harapan-Tanjung Piai), Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin (Harapan-Hang Tuah Jaya), V Sivakumar (Harapan-Batu Gajah), Ahmad Hassan (Warisan-Papar).
Opposition leader Ismail Sabri Yaakob (BN-Bera) and his ally Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali (PAS-Kuala Nerus) will also sit on the committee.
Although not specifically stated, checks show the same names to be members of the Dewan Rakyat Rights and Privileges Committee. - Mkini
