NAJIB, ROSMAH & THEIR 3 CHILDREN REFUSE TO SURRENDER SEIZED ITEMS – INCLUDING TRUCKLOADS OF CASH, JEWELLERY, EXCLUSIVE HANDBAGS & VEHICLES – TO CHALLENGE FORFEITURE SUITS

FORMER prime minister Najib Razak and his family will file objections to third party claims to items seized by police last year during raids on his residence and other premises.
His lawyer Syahirah Hanapiah said Najib, his wife Rosmah Mansor and their three children will file a motion to the Kuala Lumpur High Court for the prosecutors to divulge details of the items seized.
“Because most of the items that they claim they have seized, was taken from my client, Datuk Seri. In principle, most, if not all of the items,” she said when contacted today, after case management before deputy registrar Catherine Nicholas today.
“We have to make a comprehensive evaluation based on each of the third party claims made, if there are any. So right now, we are waiting for case management on August 30 to see how it goes.”
Last month, the Attorney-General’s Chambers filed a notice of forfeiture for hundreds of items including truckloads of designer handbags and 27 vehicles seized from premises linked to Najib and his family and 13 associated individuals and companies.
The notice named the prosecution as the applicant and 18 individuals and companies as the respondents.
The prosecution is seeking an order from the High Court to publish a notice to summon third parties with claims to the confiscated items to court to show cause as to why the items should not be forfeited.
It named Najib as the first respondent followed by Rosmah, Riza Shahriz Abdul Aziz, Nor Ashman Razak Mohd Najib, Nooryana Najwa Mohd Najib, Mohd Kyizzad Mesran, Senijauhar Sdn Bhd, Aiman Ruslan, Yayasan Rakyat 1Malaysia, Yayasan Semesta, Yayasan Mustika Kasih, Rembulan Kembara Sdn Bhd, Goh Gaik Ewe, Ng Chong Hwa, Lim Hwee Bin, Kee Kok Thiam, Tan Vern Tact and Geh Choh Hun as second to 18th respondents.
The prosecution also seeks other orders deemed fair and appropriate by the court.
The application was filed on the grounds that the prosecution, acting under Sections 56(1) and 376 of the Criminal Procedure Code, was satisfied that the items seized between May 17, 2018, and March 11, 2019, were the result of illegal activities.
Among the valuables in police custody are 272 designer handbags, 27 pairs of expensive shoes, 14 watches, and RM537,000 in various currencies.
A total of 27 Nissan Urvan vehicles were seized on August 2, 2018.
