No camps within PKR, says information chief

Shamsul Iskandar
KUALA LUMPUR: PKR information chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin has denied there are camps within the party, in response to vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin’s claim of “cracks” in PKR.
“Turmoil? The president (Anwar Ibrahim) said there’s no turmoil,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby.
When asked whether he would switch to the “Anwar camp” he said: “My president is Anwar and my deputy is Mohamed Azmin Ali. So? There is no issue.”
However, he had a word of caution for 27 members who signed a joint statement criticising Anwar for saying Azmin should resign if it was proven he was the other man in a viral gay-sex video.
“To those who signed the letters and statement, let me tell them about what Deng Xiaoping said, to hide your strength, bide your time.”
Two days ago, Shamsul had urged party leaders implicated in offences to take a leave of absence pending investigations by the authorities. His statement came a month after Azmin, who is economic affairs minister, was implicated in a sex video scandal by a former PKR Youth leader.
He said questions about police investigations into the sex video scandal were a reminder that the people still had doubts over the independence of enforcement agencies despite the change of government. - FMT
