No interference in sex video probe, assures police chief

Police are not being pressured with regard to their investigation into a sex video implicating Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali, said Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador.
“I have made it very clear, there is no interference from anyone, no specific pressure on me, nothing at all.
“We are free to conduct our own investigation according to SOP (standard operating procedure),” he told reporters in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.
Certain quarters have questioned the police's focus which appears to be on those behind the circulation of the sex video as opposed to whether the recording is authentic.
Furthermore, questions have also been raised over Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad (photo) dismissing the video as fake even before experts have verified the matter.
Quizzed on the authenticity of the video, Hamid replied: “The video... I will make a statement on this later.”
Police have arrested eight people in connection with the video so far, including former Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz and PKR president Anwar Ibrahim's political aide Farhash Wafa Salvador.
After the first clip was released, Haziq confessed to being the person in the video. He also claimed that the person he was engaging in sexual acts with was Azmin.
Haziq alleged that the video was recorded in Azmin's hotel room in Sandakan, Sabah, two months ago.
Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, has described the video as a nefarious attempt to ruin his political career. - Mkini
