PUTRAJAYA: Residents of Taman Tiara Titiwangsa lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today, urging the anti-graft agency to probe claims of irregularities and possible abuse of power in relation to the Kuala Lumpur City Plan 2020 (KLCP 2020).
LS Leonard, the lawyer representing the residents, told FMT they wanted MACC to look into how a plot of land known as Lot 9885, which was earmarked for a community centre and open space under the draft KL City Plan (DKLCP) had been changed to a Category Three residential development.
He said Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad and Kuala Lumpur City Hall mayor Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan are both directors and trustees of Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan, which owns Lot 9885.
“We believe there has been serious abuse of power and position and we want MACC to investigate this abuse,” he said.
In a statement today, the residents said the changes to the lot’s designation were made without due process and would mean an increase in zone density from 32 persons per acre to 121 persons per acre or a maximum of 400 persons per acre.
“The residents of Taman Tiara Titiwangsa are in the dark and surprised as to how DBKL and the federal territories ministry could initiate such a drastic change in KLCP 2020, contrary to the promises in DKLCP and without going through the public participation process,” they said.
They were represented by Sylvester Navaratnam, who lodged the complaint at the MACC headquarters here this morning together with Leonard and Center to Combat Corruption & Cronyism programme officer Lalitha Kunaratnam. - FMT
