PSD says it acted professionally in hiring ex-Najib aide as Intan director

The Public Service Department has defended its short-lived decision to appoint a former aide to Najib Abdul Razak as a director of National Institute of Public Administration (Intan).
PSD director-general Borhan Dolah said it had acted professionally in the matter, and only retracted Iskandar Mohd Kaus' (photoabove) appointment after taking into consideration certain "views".
"We are professionals. We would like to serve the government of the day, but taking into account those views, we decided to retract our decision (to appoint Iskandar)," he told reporters in Kuala Lumpur today.
Borhan (below) said Iskandar would be sent back to his former posting. Sources told Malaysiakini that this would be as a trainer at Intan.
Intan is a government agency which provides management and administration training for civil servants.
Iskandar was appointed as the principal private secretary to Najib in October 2016, replacing Shukry Mohd Salleh. He was previously the deputy principal private secretary.
He joined the administrative and diplomatic service in March 1994 and has over 20 years experience in the civil service.
Iskandar had also held several positions at Intan, including as head of its international unit.
His appointment as its 17th director on Monday was announced on Intan's Facebook page.
However, government sources told Malaysiakini yesterday that this had been retracted.
Borhan said a new Intan director is expected to be appointed next week. - Mkini
