Report on relocation of Pasir Gudang factories ready in 5 weeks - Yeo

An analysis report on the relocation of high-risk factories in Pasir Gudang will be completed and handed to the Johor government in five weeks, said Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Minister Yeo Bee Yin.
“Even though there are no anomalies, what has happened is that… the development in Pasir Gudang is too concentrated.
“So we are doing the analysis and then after that, the analysis will be handed to the state government,” she told a press conference after launching the Low Carbon Cities 2030 Challenge in Bangi today.
The committee, Yeo said, is made up of experts in various fields such as chemicals, soil, rivers, gas, air and others.
It was reported yesterday that gas readings taken at 14 schools in the Pasir Gudang area from July 18 to 21 were normal, according to the Environment Department.
The readings traced acrolein, acrylonitrile, methyl mercaptan and benzene, as part of the department's air quality monitoring.
“There are two things you need to understand. First is that (gas readings at) the schools that showed symptoms, those that didn’t show symptoms and those outside of Pasir Gudang, showed the same readings.
“Second is that in the urine and blood, the test was negative for toxicology, there is no trace of chemicals.
"We have tested 85 samples of those who show symptoms,” Yeo said.his year, starting with the Sungai Kim Kim chemical waste dumping incident in March.
It was also hit with an air pollution incident in June, which saw the health of more than 3,000 people affected many schools in the district closed down.
Yeo said so far, her ministry has checked all the 257 chemical-based factories in Pasir Gudang, with 12 factories being shuttered and three brought to court. - Mkini

  1. They should be responsible to living breathing humans instead of to their own personal reasons. If their families or children lives there they would react differently. World pollution is such a disaster, why won't they sober up & reduce the world's carbon damage, instead of using those reports to support no relocation needed? Come on face the truth, pollution disaster already strucked twice, even when it did not break out in 2019, the pollution is always there, releasing toxic fumes and bad air to the already weakened environment. Do we need disaster to struck for reminder??? Now even disaster happened still have to shut one eye says since it is under control, why should we let it continue?? Humans with higher mental ability should be able to think and make decisions wisely , not contradictly to the gift and oppose nature 😡😡😡
