PETALING JAYA: A restaurant worker was beaten and extorted by six men, after he asked them to be quiet.
The 12.50am incident on Thursday (July 4) took place at a restaurant in Semenyih.
Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said the six men, who were rowdy, became violent and beat up the worker with chairs and sticks after he asked them to stop making a scene.
"They also demanded that the victim pay them RM1,000 every month.
"The victim suffered bruises on his face and back," he said when contacted on on Friday (July 5).
ACP Ahmad Dzaffir said police are currently working to identify the six men.
"This includes studying the CCTV footage at the restaurant," he said.
He urged anyone with information on the case to contact Inspector Nor Fazilatul Aida at 012-2667402, or the nearest police station immediately. - Star
