KUALA LUMPUR: The Leonardo Opera Omnia exhibition at the National Art Gallery (NAG) has become a tourist attraction.

The one-month exhibition displaying digital reproduction of Leonardo da Vinci's masterpieces at NAG had been attracting more than a thousand visitors a day, including tourists.

Culture, Arts and Tourism Minister Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi said the number of visitors increased by three-fold during weekends.

Since the exhibition was opened on July 15, the gallery has attracted more than 17,000 visitors.

National Art Gallery director-general Prof Datuk Dr Mohamed Najib Ahmad Dawa said Leonardo Opera Omnia, a curated travelling exhibition, was made possible in collaboration with the Italian Embassy, and the Italian Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ministry.

Italian Embassy charge d'affairs counsellor Silvia Marrara said the digital reproduction of da Vinci's artworks enabled the public to view all his famous masterpieces in one place, without having to travel across the globe to various museums and churches.- Star
