Yeoh calls for MACC update on Taman Rimba Kiara development project

KUALA LUMPUR: Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh today urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to provide an update on the investigation into the Taman Rimba Kiara (TRK) project which had seen her lock horns with Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad.
Yeoh, who is the deputy women, family and community development minister, said many reports had been lodged with MACC by the Taman Tun Dr Ismail residents’ association (TTDI RA) and the Center to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4) on possible conflict of interest and abuse of power.
“The public wants to know about the reservation of the green area as well as Pakatan Harapan’s fight against corruption,” she said in a press conference at the TTDI community centre here.
She said when Latheefa Koya took over as chief commissioner of MACC, she wrote another letter to the anti-graft agency.
“But we haven’t got any update from MACC,” she added. “As of today, the Cabinet has not decided on TRK.
“I hope MACC will give us their input and findings quickly.”
Yeoh said C4 had also released new and extensive findings which were submitted to MACC.
“My hope is that MACC will look into all the reports that have been lodged, as well as the fresh report lodged by TTDI RA last week.”
Save Taman Rimba Kiara (STRK) working group committee coordinator Leon Koay also criticised the lack of updates on the reports.
He said STRK’s last report was submitted to MACC on July 16.
“This is the fourth submission we have made since 2017,” he added.
The proposed TRK development features eight blocks of between 42- and 54-storey high-end serviced apartments, including a 29-storey block comprising 350 affordable housing units for the relocation of TTDI longhouse residents. - FMT
