YOURSAY | 'Can we trust Farhash saying the CCTV footage from the hotel was deleted?'
Mohd Isnin: If Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak’s claim that the CCTV footage in the Four Points Hotel in Sandakan has been deleted is true, then it looks like there is a high-level conspiracy to deny Anwar Ibrahim the right to be the next prime minister, as agreed upon by all parties in Pakatan Harapan.
The police should be fair in their investigation and look at the most logical angle. Don't jump to conclusions because somebody at the top told you to look at only one angle.
This is New Malaysia and everybody has to be tried in the same way. No favouritism, please.
Kangkuong: Good, keep the sex video scandal in the news. That's the only way to pressure the police to tell the truth and make sure no one is above the law. Not even a minister.
Anonymous_1538808416: If Farhash is right, I don't think it is right for police to delete the CCTV footage in entirety. The hotel needs to retain the original footage for insurance purposes.
When there is a police report lodged on an incident that occurred in the hotel, it needs to alert their insurer to protect their own interests. So the insurer would want a copy of the footage too.
So Farhash's statement is questionable, probably just hearsay.
Some people argue that the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 prohibits the hotel from releasing the video – yes for public sharing and distribution, but not for the police, as they need it for their investigations.
What’s puzzling is that, so far, police only revealed information pertaining to the sex video, but mentioned nothing about the hotel's CCTV footage and the guest record. Very puzzling indeed.
Puzzling: Can one trust Farhash? He is a person who is willing to put others in trouble in order to satisfy his own motives.
If it is true that investigators told him that the CCTV footage was deleted, Farhash has breached their confidence, which will possibly get them all in deep trouble for disclosing confidential information.
How do you trust such a character? Even if the tapes show former Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz entering Mohamed Azmin Ali's room, it does not prove that anything happened.
Haziq knew exactly where Azmin stayed. Haziq could have gone to see Azmin to discuss political matters in relation to the Sandakan by-election, knowing fully well that his entry would be captured by the hotel's CCTV.
Then together with the sex video ‘manufactured’ somewhere else, the plotters were trying to convince the public that Azmin and Haziq engaged in relations behind closed doors.
All these plotters want is to destroy Azmin politically so that he is no threat to a certain someone. Whether Azmin faces criminal charges or not is secondary.
As for the sex video, any expert will be able to explain what deep fake technology is.
Anonymous 5237890145285379: I don’t think anyone would delete the video recording. The deletion, as claimed by Farhash, is likely a deliberate lie.
How can something so current and controversial be deleted now? This is typical of the standard operating procedure when some people in power want to hide something.
Notice how the CCTVs in some police stations are conveniently not working when there are some issues involving people held in custody?
This is how some authorities operate – no accountability. And it looks like Harapan ministers are still perpetuating the practice.
Anonymous_1527925538: After his release from custody, instead of just claiming innocence, Farhash asked the police to arrest Azmin, out of the blue.
This is illogical. It only makes the suspicion that he was involved in the dirty conspiracy against Azmin even stronger.
Sun: What is so sinister about the CCTV footage being erased, Farhash? CCTV recordings are routinely programmed to do so after a given time period.
Perhaps the folks that planned this waited too long to expose the issue, and so a valuable piece of evidence was lost. Better planning is necessary the next time.
Instead of wasting time sending it to millions of people, spend more time executing the plot properly first the next time. I am sure there will be other attempts.
Kim Quek: The CCTV footage that purportedly showed Haziq entering and leaving Azmin’s room actually went viral at the beginning of the month.
I am sure that many must have seen and saved the YouTube clips onto their computers and mobile phones.
The video showed a hooded man in black hooded jacket outwardly resembling Haziq, walking into a room and leaving it over 30 minutes later. There was also a ‘teaser’ which intimated that faces of room guests would be shown later.
The video also included scenes of men resembling Haziq and Azmin’s aide Muhammad Hilman Idham walking in the corridor and turning their heads to look at Azmin’s purported room at different times of the same day, which was captured by the same camera.
When queried by reporters, the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel acknowledged awareness of this CCTV footage being circulated.
According to Farhash, investigators claimed that the relevant footage had been deleted, the CCTV footage in circulation could prove to be powerful corroboration of the claims that associated with the earlier sex video.
Ironically, isn’t the claim of the footage being deleted the best indication that some VVIP was indeed involved in the scandal, as claimed?
Anonymous_1550204262: Everybody says that Anwar cannot control his party members from making unwanted statements.
Yes, they are flawed, but at least you get to hear their views, however much you dislike them.
Compare that with Bersatu, where everyone seems to arrange their comments around the leader's words. How much do you know about Mohamaddin Ketapi, Rina Harun, or the guy who wants to invent a flying car?
Notanonymous: With an educated voter pool, this would be good. In ours, get ready to pack your bags.
Truth: Quality leaders you have, PKR. - Mkini
