Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said negotiations between PAS and Umno will continue so long as they have not failed.
The talks have put PAS in a difficult spot, as Umno wants the Islamist party to sever ties with Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional.
PAS, however, has continued to insist that all three parties should be united.
Asked if the talks have failed, Ismail Sabri - who is an Umno vice-president - said they are still ongoing.
“Negotiations will continue. (Umno) deputy president (Mohamad Hasan) has been asked to continue with negotiations.
“They (the negotiations) have not failed until it is announced that they have failed. Until then, they have not failed,” Ismail Sabri told reporters in Shah Alam today.
PAS has been trying to place Pakatan Harapan as the main enemy of all the three Malay-Muslim parties.
However, its PN partner Bersatu has declared Umno-led BN as their main enemy instead.
PAS is expected to make a decision, this week, on which party it will ultimately side with. - Mkini
