Budget going ahead at 4pm today, says KJ

 

There had been speculation the 2023 budget might not be tabled today amid rumours that Parliament could be dissolved soon.

PETALING JAYA: Health minister Khairy Jamaluddin has confirmed that Budget 2023 will be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat at 4pm today.

“Budget? Yes. The budget (will be tabled) this evening,” he told reporters briefly after a Cabinet meeting at Perdana Putra, according to Sinar Harian.

The Malay daily said the Cabinet meeting had started at 10am, with Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob chairing it.

Vehicles ferrying the ministers were spotted exiting the Perdana Putra compound from 12.15pm.

There had been speculation that the budget might not be tabled amid rumours that Parliament could be dissolved soon to pave the way for the 15th general election.

Yesterday, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong granted Ismail an audience amid speculations that Ismail would submit the proposed date for the dissolution of Parliament.

Ismail had reportedly said he would present the proposed date during his audience with the King, “if possible”. - FMT
