DAP To Field More Malay Candidates, Contest More Malay Majority Seats. Will PKR Have To Give Up More Seats?

Just yesterday some of my friends and I were discussing the fate of UMNO, Bersatu, PKR, PAS and DAP at the next general elections. It was an interesting discussion and I will likely write about some of the "analyses" about each of the parties.

KL Oct 10 — DAP to field more Malay candidates, contest Malay-majority seats

No other political party compares with multiracial background DAP has at leadership levels and among local councillors and branch leaders

In Johor we fielded Marina Ibrahim in Chinese-majority Skudai.

Anthony Loke said to contest in more Malay-majority seats.

Our actions should speak louder than words.

“I believe if we are given a chance to contest in more Malay-majority seats, we have more than enough suitable candidates, and this will again prove that DAP is a party for all”

Syefura Othman, DAP CEC leader, expressed agreement  “I am proof. I am a Malay woman who wears a hijab. However, I was given the trust by the party to be an election candidate and by delegates to hold a position in CEC.

My Comments:

Yes PKR will have to give up more seats to the DAP. This was among the things we discussed yesterday.

The feedback is PKR is not going to win many seats in the General Elections.

Nurul Izzah will most likely lose the Permatang Pauh seat, possibly to that UMNO fellow who has been working very hard on the ground. Local folks have not seen Nurul Izzah even visiting Permatang Pauh.

And Brader Anwar has rarely been seen again picking rubbish in Port Dickson.

In brief this time around, the PKR is going to be a very weak partner in Pakatan Harapan. They will be the flat tyre.

The DAP therefore will have to decide how much they can rely on PKR or if they have to field more of their own candidates.

Hence that statement :  DAP to field more Malay candidates, contest Malay-majority seats.

It is not just BN seats or PAS seats which the DAP will target.

The views expressed are those of the writer and do not necessarily reflect those of MMKtT.
