Zuraida Kamaruddin has been officially appointed Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president.
In a statement, the party's secretary-general Nor Hizwan Ahmad said the unanimous decision was made at PBM's supreme council meeting last night.
"The supreme council and the party congratulate Zuraida and hope she will lead the party to serve the people.
"The supreme council also thanks YB Larry Sng who previously led the party," Nor Hizwan added.
Last Sunday, Sng, who is the Julau MP, insisted that he was still PBM president.
This came after media reports that Zuraida (above), who was then president-designate, had been elevated to the party's top position at PBM's first annual general meeting which took place last Saturday.
Sng noted that due process needed to take place first for a proper handover of the president's position.
“Just to be clear, if an election is held before the transition is complete, I will still sign the watikah (appointment letter) for candidates in GE15,” he said in a statement. - Mkini
