Khairuddin: Voters seek leaders with morals and can unite people

GE15 | Incumbent Kuala Nerus MP Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali, who is mounting a defence on a BN ticket, believed that his constituents are looking for a leader who has morals and is able to unite the people.

"The people here want someone with ideas and morals because we are in an era where people want to unite, not break apart.

"Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, the government has shown that it cares for the rakyat by allocating millions of ringgit (for relief efforts).

"Therefore, I believe the people can see what we have accomplished," he said when met at the Serdang night market in Kuala Terengganu last night.

Khairuddin said it was the wishes of his constituents which led him to work consistently on creating unity among Muslims.

"I do not compromise on this, and we must unite everyone, regardless of their political affiliation under the name of Keluarga Malaysia," he said.

Khairuddin said his supporters in Kuala Nerus, which he represented between 2013 and March this year under the PAS banner, still stay loyal to him because of the values he represented.

"Many voters have yet to make a decision, especially the children of these voters. They will evaluate me based on my services.

"What I am offering is my service. If I am the type that does not go to the ground and sit at home, perhaps I will be afraid (of losing).

"But since I was elected in 2013, I have never left the ground," he added.

Despite being jeered by supporters of his old party on nomination day, Khairuddin said his campaign so far has been smooth.

"People are welcoming and talking to me... When I was with PAS, I was close to BN. Now I am with BN, I am also close to PAS.

"I am friends with everyone. In politics, we should unite, not divide," he said.

Khairuddin quit PAS in March this year. He was fielded as a BN candidate, without being a member of any of the BN component parties.

In 2018, Khairuddin held on to the Kuala Nerus seat by securing 52.66 percent of the votes cast. - Mkini
