Pakatan Harapan named Mohamad Sofee Razak as its candidate to contest in the Padang Serai parliamentary by-election which will be held on Dec 7.
Harapan vice-president Salahuddin Ayub announced Mohamad Sofee’s candidacy during an event at Taman Selasih in Kulim, Kedah tonight.
Also at the event were Kedah Harapan chief Mahfuz Omar, Bukit Selambau assemblyperson R Summugam, Padang Serai Amanah chief Abdul Razak Salleh, and veteran unionist Abdullah Sani.
Mohamad Sofee (above) is a lawyer by profession and the secretary for Kedah Harapan and PKR.
The by-election came to be after Harapan’s candidate for the seat, M Karupaiya, 69, died on Nov 16, three days before the 15th general election polling day.
The Election Commission set Dec 7 as the polling date for the Padang Serai seat.
The nomination will be held tomorrow at Kulim Hitech Sports Complex. - Mkini
