GE15 | BN candidate for Kuala Nerus Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali was showered with boos by supporters of his former party PAS.
This occurred when Khairuddin and other candidates appeared on stage at the end of the nomination process.
Speaking to reporters later, Khairuddin (above, in red kopiah) said he was unperturbed by the reaction, stressing that one has to be magnanimous.
"This is normal in politics. What is important is that we maintain our friendship despite being in different parties.
"These mischievous types are everywhere. We shouldn't mind them too much. I am not affected. As leaders, we must be magnanimous," he said.
Khairuddin was a rising star in PAS until he suddenly quit the party in March.
Despite being a BN candidate, Khairuddin was not a member of any of the coalition's component parties.
On suggestions that some in BN are not happy with his candidacy, Khairuddin said this was not true because he believed that his new colleagues would adhere to any party decisions.
The Kuala Nerus constituency has switched hands between BN and PAS several times over the decades.
This time around, Khairuddin will be defending his seat for BN against challengers Dr Alias Razak (Perikatan Nasional), Suhaimi Hashim (Pakatan Harapan) and Azaha Wahid (Pejuang). - Mkini
