KUALA LUMPUR: PKR will discuss its former vice-president Tian Chua’s move to contest the Batu seat as an independent after the general election (GE15).
According to a Utusan Malaysia report, PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said the focus was now on campaigning and that the public should not be distracted by party matters.
He said this was in line with the party’s decision to suspend all disciplinary proceedings during GE15.
“I don’t want to react, because there is a process. We will leave it to the party.”
Tian Chua, the former Batu MP, joined a crowded race for the seat, setting up a clash with PKR’s candidate, P Prabakaran.
Rafizi said Tian Chua had told him of his plans to contest as an independent. However, Tian Chua had promised to continue supporting the reform agenda.
“It is his right to contest, and I welcome it in the interest of democracy so that voters have more choices.
“I hope this situation will motivate Prabakaran to work harder. I also hope the PKR and PH machinery can accept Tian Chua’s participation and refrain from personal attacks against him.” - FMT
