THE economic condition in Malaysia can be quite harsh to those on the lower rung of society. It is becoming tougher to find a job, much less, a good job with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.
But we can attest that Malaysians are a tough bunch. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going. That said, people are becoming more and more creative in their endeavour to make money.
Take it from this scammer who tried to make a quick buck by pretending to get rammed by a vehicle.
In the video post on X by netizen @mynewshub, a man could be seen running out to the middle of the road, as if trying to greet the coming vehicle. Even before it touched him, he leapt onto the bonnet of the vehicle and acted as though it had smashed into him at a great force.

Netizen @yielin1968 who watched the video said that the driver should just run him over. Another netizen pointed out that the scammer looked like a fat, black pig.

Thankfully there was a dash camera installed onboard the vehicle or the driver would have a very sticky, legal battle ahead. Either that or choose the easy way out and pay this scammer.
But the latter would encourage the man to try his luck again on another victim. One day, he might just get unlucky and what was supposed to be a fake accident turns into a real one with real consequences.
On another note, the video also reminds us how important it is to have a dash camera installed on one’s car.
Installing dashboard cameras in vehicles is a crucial step towards promoting safer driving behaviour and enhancing road safety, says Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye sometime back in an article on The Star.
The Road Safety Council member highlighted that dashcams are an effective tool for monitoring driving habits and providing unbiased evidence in traffic accidents.
“The footage captured provides clear and impartial evidence, helping to determine fault, resolve disputes, and expedite investigations. This not only ensures justice but also reduces the burden on the legal system,” he further explained.
Also, Lee recommended that dashcams be made affordable and accessible to all vehicle owners so that its adoption can be maximised. — Focus Malaysia
