FORMER Bersatu leader Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal accuses the party of purging only Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim critics, noting that only the pro-Anwar wing is now left in the party.
His comments on Facebook highlight the deep divisions and internal political tensions that ran through the party headed by former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He was responding to some comments directed at the party after the firing of Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, along with 16 others, by a disciplinary committee.
The comment said: “The people don’t care about Bersatu’s internal affairs. The people want us to focus on fighting Anwar Ibrahim. We fight!”
Wan Fayhsal also said the pro-Muhyiddin wing in the party is protecting allies of Anwar because they are within the latter’s grasp.
In a fiery statement, he alleged that those facing corruption and criminal allegations were shielded in the purge. He described Bersatu as split between those defending truth and those serving “false Madani” interests.
“This is funny, Yeop. Truly funny. Doesn’t he know that his boss is in Anwar’s pocket? Is he so foolish that he doesn’t understand why his friend, the Kuala Kangsar MP, was ‘forced’ to jump parties to support Pak Syeikh?
“FACT: Those who strongly oppose Anwar are all expelled from Bersatu!
“Meanwhile, those with Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission cases (land issues, sand issues), cases of sodomy, rape, and other criminal matters — those are the ones being treated like precious oil by the president,” he noted.
He said clearly there were two sides in the party.
“Those who uphold the truth and fight against falsehood and those who become the lackeys and stooges of the Fake Madani, like your boss (Muhyiddin).
“Don’t confuse the people with false promises and fake posturing, Yeop!,” he lambasted. — Focus Malaysia
